A year ago today...

...we moved into our first house!

I wish I could say we've done all the updates I wanted or at least some, but I can't.  We have instead dealt with glorious foundation problems (never-ending), getting root barriers installed (to block tree roots from sucking all the water from under the foundation), getting a new roof...and soon to be new gutters.  S. has spent countless hours working in the yard and multiple trips to Home Depot.  There's always so much to do as homeowners (especially of an older home) just to maintain the house.  Maybe this next year, we'll actually get this house out of it's 80's rut:)  But despite all the changes I would like to make, it feels like home.  We love all the space; we love the area, and I love all my counter and cabinet space in the kitchen.  P. loves exploring and is now obsessed with pulling up on the fireplace.  N. has taken over each and every room in the house with some type of toy or art he has made.  S. painted the entryway a modern blue-gray to replace the mauve pink, and I have hung frames there, so I have my little space of my style in the house.

So this was a picture of the day we moved in--we had gone to dinner with my family and coming out we saw the most beautiful rainbow--I took it as a little sign from heaven that this was where we were supposed to be:)

Our yard a few weeks ago--3 feet deep trenches dug around the house for root barriers--crazy!

Anyways, we're super grateful to have a house of our own:)
