S.'s Grandma Vena passed away March 20th at the age of 83. The last time we saw her was in February at our family dinner (every 3rd sunday, we meet up with S.'s side of the family for dinner). At the dinner, she held P., and her and N. played cars and were giggling and laughing together. On the way home, N. kept saying, "I had fun with Grandma Vena...her kept putting the cars in jail." He talked about that for days after and still does. I'm so grateful that he has that special memory with her--it's a memory I will always cherish. My grandparents have always lived far away, so for me Grandma Vena was my Texas grandma (and Grandma Jolene--S's other Grandma who passed away in February). I loved how excited she got about homemade ice cream and opening Christmas presents. I loved her smile--that will always stick with me.
Here's a picture of Grandma Vena holding P. and her twin sister, Vana, holding her great-granddaughter, Cambry. Both P. and Cambry were born on the same day. How fitting:)
