my little boy is almost 3...

Here's some things about my sweet, little guy...
  • He has started saying his own prayers, and it is so funny to hear what he has to say. One day, he was thankful for doughnuts and hamburgers, since that's what we ate that day, but most days, he has a long list of all the people he's thankful for.
  • Everyday as S. gets in his car to go to work, N. reaches up on his tippy-toes to give S. a kiss through the window of his car, and then waves as he pulls out.  When S. gets home, N. is always there to greet him with a very cheerful, HI!
  • He loves trains.  He has been very into all the different types of train cars and types of trains.  I've learned a lot too, since he's always asking so many questions.  He is always pulling his trains around the house and pretending they're stopping at various stations and picking up passengers and freight.
  • He is very particular about what he wears.  It's quite a battle to get him to wear shorts, and I've had to basically tell him, we can't play at the park or anywhere outside unless he wears shorts, which usually works, until we get home and he takes them off.  I don't know why he prefers pants over shorts, so hopefully living in Texas he'll learn quickly that shorts are much cooler.
  • He absolutely loves his friends and family.  I'm so grateful he has made such good friends and that we're not too far away from them.
  • Whenever we go check the mail, N. has to push one of his animals in his stroller to the mailbox.
  • Everytime my phone rings, N. sings the ring tone(stay beautiful by Taylor Swift).
  • At lunch, N. eats on a stool in the kitchen doorway(b/c he can't eat in the living room) while watching Barney, Thomas the Train, or Elmo.
  • He loves saying Happy Birthday.  He says it randomly all the time in such an excited voice.
  • On Father's Day, I told N. to go tell Daddy "happy father's day", and he went right in and said it and gave S. a big hug, then turned to me and said, "happy father's day, mommy."  I guess he wasn't quite sure what a father was.
  • He is often shy when we first go to a friends' house or when someone talks to him.  We went and visited our friends in their new house when they moved in, and N. was being so quiet and didn't want to play.  When he got home, he said, "Mom, I was shy"--just so matter of factly.  Then after his birthday party, he said, "mom, I wasn't shy!"
  • Getting him to take naps has turned into a battle lately.  He takes one most days, but it takes me putting him back in his room over and over again.  I'm pretty sure he'll be giving them up completely soon, which will make for a long, cranky afternoon for both of us.
  • He loves giving "BIG" hugs and kisses, and says the "BIG" with so much emphasis.
  • He still loves watching the garage door open and close and stands on the mat by the door to watch it open and close everytime.
  • The other day, when he was wrestling with Daddy, he had enough, and said, "S., stop it."  Both of us started laughing...it was just too funny to hear him say Daddy's first name.
  • He told me the other day that baby P. needed to come out.  He wants to give him hugs and kisses and says he wants to take his picture with the baby.
  • He is no longer using pacis anymore.  I was really worried about how to get rid of them, and it happened on it its own.  N. left them at my family's house--he had left them in my little sister's bed, and I told him to go get them as we were leaving, and he must have forgotten, because they were not in my bag when we got home.  The first night when he realized he left him, he had the saddest look on his face, but surprisingly did okay.  He kept saying that McKenna was keeping them safe.  Over the next few weeks, we never went back over there, because they were out of town, and he hasn't mentioned them since the 1st week or two, so YEA--we are done with pacis.
I love this boy.  I can't believe how much he's grown up especially over the last few months.  He really has started talking so much and I enjoy all our little conversations.
