N. at 5 years old

  • Still loves trains--has wooden trains and a remote control set and drives trains all over our house; recently he set out all his most favorite trains and was calling it his train collection and wouldn't let P. near it
  • Always has mac n cheese on Sunday after church
  • Enjoys playing with P. and making him laugh
  • Is reading basic books and words
  • Can count to 100
  • Is both excited and nervous about kindergarten
  • Wakes up every morning around 6ish
  • Loves playing on our phones and papa's ipad; likes listening to Pandora kids music
  • Is quite the chatter box to Atticus' mom, Cindy, and will tell her all kinds of stuff--way more than he tells me--it's super-cute!
  • Still stubborn and nervous of new things--i.e. he still won't give a talk, scripture, prayer in primary or get up and sing with the kids in sacrament meeting
  • Went to the theater for the very first time to see Monsters University and loved it
  • Seems ungrateful  lately--always wants more or something else on top of all that he has--so for his birthday, we got him a train station for his geotrax and on the back is a picture of this huge tracks with lots of gadgets and pieces all sold separately of course, and he's been going on and on about how he didn't just want one but all of it, with a bratty voice
  • Has a bit of an attitude--will stomp off with his hands on his hips, sighs a ton (realized he gets this from me, so I'm working on it), says "Mom, you make me so angry."
  • Good friend--he's genuinely concerned for his friends and making sure they're okay--his teacher at school said he was always making sure others knew what they should do without being bossy--that he was thoughtful of others
  • Loves the Texas Rangers
  • Loves the song Deep in the Heart of Texas
  • Does chores--earns a dime for each one--recently bought a passenger train for his wooden tracks with his earnings
  • We love this maniac--can't believe he's 5.
He took his first swim lessons this summer.
At first, he was literally dragged in the pool by his swim teacher, but it only took about a day of that for him to finally get used to water in his face, and then he really enjoyed it.

At S.'s brother's wedding...was having a little too much fun posing:)
