It hasn't quite sunk in yet--we closed on Tuesday, but the sellers are renting it back from us for a few weeks. We're excited to have a space to finally make our own. The house definitely has some 80's features(some wood paneling, etc), but it's been somewhat updated and really well-taken care of. It's move-in ready, and just has little cosmetic things here and there to make it more our style. I'm super-excited about having a yard for N. to play in and the fact that there are no neighbors downstairs to complain about noise from running feet.
The whole process has been a whirlwind and a waiting game at the same time. We went out with our realtor on a Saturday back in March and saw about 9 houses--the 1st house we saw was this one and honestly really liked it and both felt really good in the house. We went out for a late lunch and then were about to head down to my family's to pick up N. when we got a phone call from our realtor telling us an offer has been put on the 1st house, so if we wanted to put in an offer, we had to today. So we decided, what the heck, let's make an offer. The sellers had until 6pm the next day to give us their decision or our offer was void. Well, about 6:15 the next day, we hadn't heard anything, so we just assumed it wasn't ours, but then we got a call from our realtor saying they accepted our offer and just changed the closing date to a few weeks earlier. At the same time, we were excited, but our realtor was really concerned that it wouldn't appraise for the amount we were paying(it's one of the smallest houses in the neighborhood, so the price per square footage was higher than most other listings), so if that was the case, we couldn't get a loan for the amount needed, so it was hard to really feel relieved--and so began the waiting game. We had our inspection and that went well, and then a week and half later our appraisal came in at exactly what we offered--everyone was shocked, and it began to feel real at that point. So now, it really is ours--we finally have a home of our very own!
Congrats!! Your house is so cute! I love it! I can't wait for the day till we will be buying! sigh. You have to have a house warming party for sure when we come back!
