So just a quick update on S. and us...S. had surgery on his foot last Friday(a little over a week ago). The surgery went well, nothing unexpected, and we were home within a couple of hours. The 1st two days were better than we expected due to a pain pump that was delivering numbing/pain medication directly to the wound(and N. spending the weekend with my family--less stress on me). After that ran out, S. was taking hydrocodone, and it was really making him out of it, very sleepy, nauseous, itchy, and basically not himself. After 2 days of feeling like junk, he decided to go off the hydrocodone and stick to ibuprofen. It took a few days to get it out of his system, but he is feeling a ton better. The foot is not in too much pain right now, but the hard part is keeping the swelling down, so he has to keep it elevated. He has a cast on his foot and lower leg, and can't walk on it at all for 6 weeks. Because he didn't want to be on crutches for that long, we are renting a knee scooter that is working really well and making it much easier to get around. S. made it to work for most of the day on Friday, so we're slowly getting back to a little bit of normalcy. It's been a tough week on all of us, but we feel very grateful for all the help and support that friends and family have offered us and continue to offer us.
S. was going a little stir crazy by Thursday, so we decided to take his scooter for a spin in the parking garage. N. of course had to tag along on his bike and had a blast following S. around. Quite a sight:)
