"wined and dined" (minus the wine for us)
Last Thursday night was S.'s work Christmas party. It was a small gathering of the mergers and acquisitions group that he works in and their spouses. We met out in Rockwall on Lake Ray Hubbard at a restaurant called Blue Canyon. We were first taken on a private sailing yacht ride--the night was beautiful and the lake was so still. Then we were brought back to the lounge/bar area where appetizers were waiting on us--tiered platters of crab claws, huge crab legs, oysters, shrimp, and beef wellington. We all ate to our hearts content and there was still left overs. The crab was so, so delicious and sweet and juicy. Then they announced that it was time to move to our private room for dinner even though we were already full. I ordered the Australian lobster tail for dinner and was shocked when it came out--it was the biggest lobster tail I had ever seen--apparently it was 12 oz and the size of my large dinner plate. I couldn't even eat half of it, but it was yummy. Then they brought out sampling trays of all their desserts with again more than any of us could dream of eating. Meanwhile of course everyone was drinking wine and port, while I had my lemonade! It was the nicest dinner I'd ever been too, and it was fun to get spoiled for a night and meet all the people S. works with.
