Slowly Settling In...

Originally when we found out we were moving to NYC, we had planned on taking a moving truck and driving it up, but as it turned out, we did a little research and discovered it was actually cheaper and more convenient to ship the stuff we needed--mainly clothes, kitchen stuff, and linens(since it was already furnished). So, we shipped 10 boxes worth of stuff and amazingly it arrived all in one piece on Tuesday. It's nice to have all our stuff from home, so we can make this place feel more like home! Because we were shipping stuff, we didn't pack food, really heavy stuff, or big, bulky things, so we've spent this past week walking to lots of different stores and lugging all of it back home. The other tricky thing is finding the best deal--I'm a bit of a cheapskate and want to know that I'm paying the best price and not getting ripped off--in NYC, it seems that a lot of things are overpriced. There are a few different grocery stores that all have pretty good sales, but what's interesting is that none of the sale items are actually marked in the store like I'm used to in Dallas--you just have to carry the ad with you and make sure you are getting what's on sale. So, I've gone to lots of different stores, but I feel like I'm getting some good deals and slowly getting everything we need.

Today we made another IKEA run(and hopefully our last) and picked up 2 more heavy big blue bags of stuff. I took pictures this time and those are below...
Waiting for the subway...

Riding on the subway...

On our way to Ikea, we saw...
New York Stock Exchange

Federal Hall--where George Washington took the oath of office as President, and the first Congress, Supreme Court, and Executive Branch offices

Trinity Church--built in 1846

After shopping at Ikea--waiting for the water taxi--we were all a bit tired by this point...

Once we got home and ate dinner, we started going through some of our Ikea stuff. Noah loved the big, but a bit flat, pillows we got(they were only $1 a piece for king size, so what can you expect)!
